Monday Morning Video: Girls Guns & Glory cover Hank Williams

Monday, December 28, 2015 By Mayer Danzig

There are certain statements that are indisputable. One of those is the profound impact that Hank Williams has had on American music. There’s really no escaping it. From the tortured heartache of “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” to the gospel jubilee of “I Saw the Light” to the unbridled joy of “Jambalaya” he has inspired – and continues to inspire – countless musicians and artists.

Among those are the Boston-based quartet Girls Guns and Glory. For the past several years they’ve paid tribute to Williams with a series of shows that celebrate his musical legacy. In a true homage, they schedule the shows around Williams final days and the New Year’s Day show that never happened due to his untimely passing.

The mini-tour starts in Burlington, VT on Tuesday night and continues down to Fall River on Saturday night. You’ll find the show details and dates here.

Here are the fellas performing the Williams classic “Honky Tonk Blues.”
