I expect that these releases are just the beginning of another great year of Boston music.
Singer-songwriter Matt Lorenz knows how to make one heck of a racket. His one-man band sound leans heavy on fuzzy guitar and ragged percussion, augmented by occasional throat-singing that gives the songs extra character. It’s as distinctive as it is enjoyable.
The Flood reemerge with a five song ep that is slightly less textured but no less potent than 2013’s outstanding Battles.
The badass boys of bluegrass are back! True to form, this immensely talented quintet mix a few originals in with an eclectic and entertaining set of covers.
While Session Americana’s live shows are always rousing affairs, their studio focus is on the integrity of the songs. Each band member brings his own personality and songwriting style which the group blends together to create music that is truly special.
