Session Americana @ The Lizard Lounge, Cambridge MA
Damn, these boys know how to throw a party! I’ve only seen Session Americana in action twice, but both times I was dancing and learning what to shout out to participate as an audience member (“Beertown! Doreen!”). Whether Dinty Child was standing on a chair, Ry Cavanagh was crooning, or Billy Beard was rocking out on the drums, these shows are an experience not to be missed.
What’s really special about Session are their ability to collaborate with other artists. I witnessed them play with the lovely Laura Cortese. My husband was humming their version of her song “Perfect Tuesday” for days afterward. Here’s what it says in their own bio: An essential part of Session Americana is collaboration and spontaneity. Some of the regional and international artists who have “sat at their table” are: Patty Griffin, Kris Delmhorst, Jennifer Kimball, Peter Wolf (J.Geils Band), Bill Janovitz (Buffalo Tom), Billy Conway (Morphine), Bruno Green (FR), The Henry Girls (ROI), Cahelen Morrison (CAN), Rose Cousins (CAN), Anais Mitchell, David Wax Museum, The Watson Twins, Aoife O’Donavan, and many more.
We are lucky enough that Session will be participating in the Friday night show of the Twangville Music Festival on June 28th! Don’t miss it!!
