Some travel to see bands, others let the bands come to them. So while SXSW brought thousands to Austin, the annual Couch Couch By Couchwest brought the music to you. The annual online festival invites artists, most of whom are not attending SXSW, to submit videos of themselves performing songs. Artists have fun with it, filming their submissions in living rooms, cars and countless other locales.
The videos below are just a sample of the performances that can be found at this year’s event. So make some popcorn, plop down on the couch and surf on over to Couch By Couchwest.
Joey Kneiser & Kelly Kneiser of Glossary perform “St. Christopher” from Joey’s late 2012 ep release.
Scott Miller plays “Say Ho” from his 2006 album Citation.
Mic Harrison and the High Score are “Wiser the Whiskey.”
Jimbo Mathus singing a new song “Catahoula” from his couch, located in the back of his van.
I Can Lick Any Sonofabitch in the House sing a sort-of tribute to Andy Griffith called “Mayberry.”
Kevin Russell of the Gourds and Shinyribs fame covering Willie Nelson’s “Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground.”
Cary Hudson previews a new song called “Fiddler’s Green.”
