Monday Morning Video: Live from the Living Room

Monday, February 25, 2013 By Mayer Danzig

New York City’s The Living Room has long been recognized as a music lover’s paradise. The venue has been a musical home to artists like Norah Jones and a place where artists like the Punch Brothers can comfortably explore new material. As recently as a few weeks ago, the Lumineers talked in the New York Times about the band’s early days when they aspired to play the room.

Well, the Living Room is closing their current location, no doubt priced out by a gentrifying neighborhood. You can help the venue find a new home — and enjoy some impressive rewards — by contributing to their funding campaign here. There are only a few days left in their campaign and they haven’t yet met their goal.

The current location has played host to some amazing performances through the years. Here are but a few. First up is Glen Hansard, joined by his “buddy” Bono. Next up is Jim Boggia with a tremendous version of Springsteen’s “Thunder Road” played on his ukelele. Then we’ve got Matthew Ryan’s acoustic take on his classic “Guilty.” We round things out with the Punch Brothers followed by Norah Jones and the Little Willies.
