Let the guitars ring out, the True Believers have reunited! Back in the mid-1980’s, the legendary Austin band scorched a blazing trail as they criss-crossed the country with their three guitar attack. A solid debut album was released. A follow-up album was recorded but was lost for years in record company limbo. The frustrations mounted and the band went their separate ways.
Fortunately, all was not lost. The three primary singer-songwriters — Alejandro Escovedo, Javier Escovedo and Jon Dee Graham — have continued to bless us with their musical talents as solo artists.
Fast-forward nearly 30 years to last fall when the band came together in Austin Texas to pay tribute to an old friend. As the saying goes, one thing led to another and the band decided to reunite for some shows and planned studio time. Bring it on, gentlemen, bring it on!
While we wait with baited breath for the second coming of True Believers, here are two performances from last year’s reunion set.
