Monday Morning Video: Joe Ely

Monday, August 13, 2012 By Mayer Danzig

Here’s a guy who just doesn’t get enough recognition for his talent and contribution to American music. Whether performing folk and country with the Flatlanders or rocking alongside the Clash or performing classic Mexican folk with Joel Guzman, Ely has proven himself a masterful musician.

Here’s a randomly selected trio of Ely classics: Ely’s take on Robert Earl Keen’s “The Road Goes On Forever” with Guzman and Lloyd Maines, “All Just To Get To You” with Bruce Springsteen and Ely’s solo take on “Me and Billy the Kid.”

About the author:  Mild-mannered corporate executive by day, excitable Twangville denizen by night.
