We’ll wrap up this go-around with a few more promising releases scheduled for early 2011. This is shaping up to be a mighty fine year for music.
EDDIE SPAGHETTI, Sundowner
(Release date 15 February 2011)
This is a record that overflows with personality. Not that anyone should be surprised given the reputation Spaghetti has established as the front man for punkabilly legends Supersuckers. A mix of Spaghetti originals and choice covers (Steve Earle’s “If You Fall In Love,†Willie Nelson’s “Always On My Mindâ€) make this one heck of a musical party. (Bloodshot Records)

THE LOW ANTHEM, Smart Flesh
(Release date 22 February 2011)
To record their latest release, the Providence quartet rented out an abandoned pasta sauce factory. In winter. Apparently with limited heat. It was the perfect setting for a group that thrives on sparse yet spacious songs and instrumentation. (Nonesuch Records)
LUCINDA WILLIAMS, Blessed
(Release date 1 March 2011)
Any new music from Lucinda Williams is bound to grab attention. And with guests ranging from Elvis Costello to Matthew Sweet, expectations are certainly running high. (Lost Highway Records)
THE DAMNWELLS, No One Listens to the Band Anymore
(Release date 15 March 2011)
Fresh from his time at the prestigious Iowa Writers’ Workshop, Damnwells songwriter Alex Dezen emerges with a fresh batch of songs. Dezen has always had a remarkable sense of melody, melancholy pop at its finest. (PledgeMusic Recordings / Poor Man’s Records)
