Twenty-five years ago, John Fogerty tapped into America’s favorite pastime and hit a home run with ‘Centerfield’. This year, Geffen Records released a digitally remastered version of the record with two bonus covers “My Toot Toot” and “I Confess.” Between the two reissues I listened to this year, the timeless classic “Centerfield” was the clear winner.
Put it this way, have you ever been to a pro baseball game that hasn’t played “Centerfield”? I don’t think so. The song is as American as apple pie and there’s good reason that John Fogerty is the only musician to ever be honored at the Baseball Hall of Fame Induction. Do yourself a favor and travel back in time to 1985 with this one. If you a thirteen year-old there that matches my description, punch him in the face and tell him to shape up.
