Kickstart American Gun’s New Record

Wednesday, November 10, 2010 By Eli Petersen

Twangville house band and all around bad-asses American Gun are looking for a little help getting their 4th full length off the ground. Recorded in producer Mitch Easter’s (REM, Pavement, Suzanne Vega) North Carolina studio The Fidelitorium, the album promises to find the band moving in new directions. The departure of co-founding singer-songwriter Donald Merckle has stripped the band to a lean 4 piece. Not that anyone attending recent shows would describe the band as stripped down, as they seem to be drifting into an even more punk rock inspired sound (see videos of new songs below).

Anyhow, the band is looking for a little fundraising help to get the record mastered and to get physical copies pressed up. They’ve elected to use the KICKSTARTER website to achieve this goal. Contributing can gets you a wide assortment of premiums. A mere 20 bucks gets you a digital pre-release copy, a physical copy, and a thank-you in the liner notes, while $75 or more gives you rights a custom designed Fishing Lure (designed by the band’s own Noel Rodgers). They’ve got those and lots of stuff in between as well as over and beyond (house show anyone?). To contribute or check out the other premiums, go here.
