SXSW 2008 Friday Night Preview

It may be “silly season” in politics but that’s not to distract the party which will be in full swing by Friday night of the SXSW Festival. If you’re not checking out the Americana Roots Showcase at the Waterloo Icehouse (Les Poisson Rouge, Modern Day Drifters, Drew Kennedy, Wrinkle Neck Mules, Whipsaws, Mando Saenz and Band of Heathens) you ought to have your sights on showcases by Yep Roc (The Golden Dogs, Heloise & the Savoir Faire, Liam Finn, Chuck Prophet, American Princes and The Legendary Shack Shakers @ The Ale House), KUT (Ryan Bingham, Future Clouds & Radar, The Submarines, Christian Scott, Carrie Rodriguez and The English Beat @ Momo’s) and the Memphis Music Commission (The Tennessee Boltsmokers, Snowglobe, The Third Man, The Bo-Keys, Amy Lavere, North Mississippi Allstars @ Opal Divine’s Freehouse).
