Why I Carry a Blackberry

Thursday, November 15, 2007 By Mayer Danzig

I often get harassed for my blackberry addiction. While I don’t deny the accusation, I feel somewhat redeemed to have recently used it to help Emerson Hart, former singer-songwriter from Tonic, in a performance last week.

In the middle of the set, Hart began playing Jim Croce’s “Operator.” The Croce classic is one of those memorable songs that isn’t quite as memorable when you need to know all the lyrics.

Blackberry to the rescue! A quick Google search (jim croce operator) and we were, pardon the pun, ready to rock. Hart finished the song is grand style, no longer playing his guitar but rather thumbing through the lyrics on my Blackberry.

Alas, there is no footage available, but here are a few Hart performances for your viewing pleasure. Hart’s debut solo release is chock full of the same catchy hooks that made Tonic a radio staple several years back.
