So, House is a TV show that comes on Fox about a miracle working doctor with a cocky attitude, a sad love life and an addiction to pain pills. At least that’s what it seemed like the 4 or 5 times I’ve watched the show.  “So, who would make up such a soundtrack?” you ask. Well, the artists include Massive Attack, Gomez, Michael Penn, Elvis Costello, Sarah McLachian, Joe Cocker, Ben Harper, John Cleary and the Absolute Monster Gentlemen, Josh Rouse, Lucinda Williams, Josh Ritter and Band From TV.Â
The best of the tunes, Rouse’s “God, Please Let Me Go Back,” Williams’ “Are You Allright,” Ritter’s “Good Man,” and Harper’s “Waiting On An Angel” you should already have in your collection from their respective full length albums. Massive Attack’s “Teardrop,” from 1998’s Mezzanine, has been used countless times in commercials, films and the like but it works well for the show’s opening credits. (Buy Mezzanine if you don’t have it…great album.)
The soundtrack also features a few throwaway tracks such as McLachlan’s “Dear God,” (that we all heard plenty of in 1996) “Got to be More Careful” by the Monster Gentleman, and a butchering of the Stone’s “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” by Band from TV.  Maybe it’s because I don’t like reggae or maybe it’s because I think the Rolling Stones’ original version is damn good, but anyway…  Band From TV are a charity organization that features actors who are also musicians (and other people I believe) and they seem to be created for a worthwhile cause so I’ll stop there. (I mean, the band features the mind-reading cop from Heroes, and I love that show, so I can’t be too hard on them.)
In closing I’d like to thank you all for reading my review of the House Soundtrack. If you go out and buy this disc after reading this, I feel sorry for you.
