I’m finally getting around to sharing my favorite songs from releases in Spring. As usual, there were a few casualties trying to fit the entire list onto a single disc. Among the fallen were Loudon Wainwright III, Elliot Smith and Mando Daio. All were painful to remove, but in the end I don’t think the playlist suffered any. Some expected artists you’ll see here are The White Stripes, Wilco and John Doe. Ones that you might not have expected include Travis and Juliana Hatfield. In fact, I’m surprised those made it myself but they are really good songs and its great to see the resurgence of both. And of course, you’ll find plenty of rising stars in the mix like Gina Villalobos, Leeroy Stagger, Adam Hood and the Wrinkle Neck Mules. All in all, if you like alternative music and a good dose of alt twang, I think you’ll love this playlist. As with most of my playlists, they start out rockin’ and then move to the rootsier stuff towards the end. I’ve been lovin’ this mix. I hope that you will too. To preview the songs, I’ve posted a Best of Spring ’07 iMix to the iTunes store. Enjoy!
