Calling All Scrobblers, an Update

Friday, September 08, 2006 By Tom Osborne

logoIt appears as if our “In the Name of Twang” group on Last.fm is officially up and running. I originally thought we would need at least 15 members to be able to get charts but luckily we have them with only 11 members. I wasn’t expecting much as very few people I know have accounts on Last.fm. That being said, I’m delighted that we have enough to carry on. So far, I’m disappointed that I can’t grab a feed of the charts. I’d love to be able to throw a group chart on Twangville like the personal ones I have on our “In Rotation” page. That aside, one of the things that really excites me is the ability to listen to a group radio station. This will only get better as we get more people to join. Every new member will contribute their own tastes to the group and we’ll all discover new artists as the radio station plays music based on our collective taste. A “wisdom of crowds” mentallity in action. I love it! Thanks to everyone that has shown an interest in this. In no particular order, those folks are kentnewsome, themayer, laughterkey, passeloeter, joelluber, AmericanaUK, __spoon, Elliothalf, insectroyalty, suzukis. Remember, this is open to anyone with a Last.fm account who loves music with a touch of twang.
