Don’t Forget to Tip the Bartender

I learned a valuable lesson this weekend while catching some music at my neighborhood music club.

A couple walk into the bar and approach the bartender to order drinks.

She: I’d like a Long Island Iced Tea.

He: I’d like a Grateful Dead.

Bartender: Sure, name one Grateful Dead song.

He: (after an all too brief pause) I’ll have what she’s having.

The moral of the story? Respect your bartender. Sayeth the man in question, “You’ve got to have certain standards.”

The soundtrack for this scene was Melvern Taylor and the Fabulous Meltones, a Lowell Massachusetts quartet. Led by Taylor’s ukulele, the band has a great old school country and folk feel. Have a listen:
