Best of Spring 2006, a Playlist

Wednesday, August 02, 2006 By Tom Osborne

Spring PlaylistSimilar to my Winter playlist, there were some great releases in Spring of this year. A few of my favorites that made this list were by the Sam Roberts Band, Josh Ritter, Roman Candle, Drive-by Truckers, Allison Moorer, Tim O’Reagan, Keb’ Mo’ and, of course, Bruce Springsteen. That nearly names them all, but more importantly, there were a few that didn’t make the list that deserve mention. It wasn’t easy but after long deliberation I decided to pull both Sonic Youth and Pearl Jam off the list in the spirit of twang. Both of these artists produced their best releases in years and both albums should be included on each of their short lists of best albums of their careers. It wasn’t that I couldn’t just leave them on, after all lists are lists. But I like to make playlists that can fit on a single CD. This is how I listen to music during my daily commute. That being said, here are some of my favorites from Spring. The order is all about flow and has nothing to do with rank. Enjoy!
