Here’s a couple of album previews for week of June 27. I’ve given both of these albums a single listen. Grant-Lee Phillips of Grant Lee Buffalo fame releases an album of ’80s covers. Its a little underwhelming but I will say the selection of songs is great and for the legion of Grant-Lee Phillips fans, the music is good too. It includes several of my favorite from that era like “Love My Way” (Psychodelic Furs), “Under the Milky Way” (The Church), and “Wave of Mutilation” (Pixies).
More spectacular is Tim O’Reagan‘s self-titled new release. I didn’t think I knew who he was until I was reminded that he’s the drummer for alt-country supergroup, The Jayhawks. If you are like me and you love the Jayhawks, you will absolutely love this album. I started to pick a few notable tracks until I found myself choosing every song. I’m putting this one on heavy rotation.
Also, check out our single of the week, Kris Delmhorst‘s “Galuppi Baldassare”, on the Twangville MySpace profile.
