**NOTE: Contest is now closed. You can still participate but will no longer be eligible for the giveaway.**
You know we’re all about the twang here in our little town, but what you might not know is that there’s several of us that are big soul fans. So you can bet there’s a little buzz amongst us about the latest Marc Broussard release S.O.S.: Save Our Soul a collection of soul covers of Broussard’s favorite predecessors. To celebrate, we’re giving away a copy of his latest album plus a vinyl version of the album courtesy of Vanguard Records and Sideways Media. Trust me, you want this!
To win, I’m gonna need a little help. I’ve been trying to put together a soul compilation for some time now. Some of the songs on S.O.S were already on my list, but there are so many more soulful songs of worth out there. Help me make my compilation. Tell me your favorite soul song and artist by leaving a comment on this post. The winner will be randomly selected from entries within the eligible time frame.
Contest starts now and will run until midnight EST on Monday, July 30, 2007.
**By participating in this contest you agree to allow Twangville to forward your contact info to Sideways Media and to post your name and city on our web site. We will never use your info for any other reason.**
Even if you don’t win you can always purchase an autographed version of Marc Broussard’s, S.O.S.: Save Our Soul.

I’m not eligible for the prize, but I thought I’d offer up one of my own favorite soul songs… “Ain’t to Proud to Beg” by The Temptations.

Where to begin, Tom, where to begin. I’d start with a anything by Professor Longhair with a smooth segue into the Capitols singing “Cook Jerk,” then slow it down a bit for Clarence Carter’s “Slip Away” shifting right into R.B Greaves “Take a Letter Maria” and top it off with Arthur Conley’s “Sweet Soul Music.” How sweet it is.
