SXSW 2007 Wednesday Night Preview

Here we go, the SXSW chatter has begun and is gaining momentum. The legendary music and arts conference is only a week away and Austin, TX is certain to be preparing for its largest showing yet. I, of the uninitiated, will be attending for the first time with fellow twanger Mayer Danzig to help show me the ropes. I’m representing my employer at the Interactive conference starting Saturday and staying in town through Thursday night. Mayer, on the other hand, will be attending the full music conference like he has been for many years. Several of you have reached out to me to let me know you are going to be there. I truly hope we cross paths and hope that you won’t be strangers. Its great to know there are others out there who are as passionate about this music space as we are here at Twangville. In the meantime, I’ve finally started to look at the schedule and see what I might be interested in checking out. There are a ton of acts I’d like to catch but my Southby advisors, Mayer and John Anderson, have been telling me that it may not be as easy as picking from a menu. Thats ok with me. Like a stick floating on a river, I just hope to enjoy the scenery along the way… very loud, rockin’ scenery, that is.

As I go through the schedule, I’ll post tracks from some of the bands I’m familiar with who’ve been kind enough to share their music with us. Here’s some tracks from bands playing on Wednesday night:

IV Thieves - You Can’t Love What You Don’t Understand

Rosie Thomas - Much Farther To Go

LZ Love - My Higher Ground

Eli Paperboy Reed & The True Loves - Take My Love With You

Scott H. Biram - Been Down Too Long

The Wrights - You’re The Kind of Trouble

San Saba County - Psalm 102

Charlie Louvin - Must You Throw Dirt In My Face

Grand Champeen - Different Sort of Story

Palaxy Tracks - Posthumous

The Sammies - Trainwreck

Joe Purdy - Blue In The Sky

Check out the SXSW web site for the full Wednesday night schedule.
