last train home album coverThe former DC-based now Nashville-based band Last Train Home comes home to the Capitol City this weekend for a series of CD release shows. I gotta get my priorities straight and hit one of these shows. Its “bound” to be a historic weekend in honor of the decade old band’s fifth full-length release.

@ IOTA in Arlington, VA:

  • Friday Feb. 16 (9 pm) w/ Claire Small
  • Saturday Feb. 17 (9pm) w/ Heidi Schwartz
  • Sunday Feb. 18 (2 pm) w/ Kevin Cordt Quartet

The new album Last Good Kiss is available for purchase at from the Last Train Home web site or the Red Beet Records web site.

Did you make it out for any of these shows? I got myself to the Sunday afternoon show. Great stuff. They’ve always put on an out of “bounds” live show.

I was there on Friday night. The show was one of the better LTH shows I’ve seen. All the time they spend on the road showed as they played together amazingly tight. The second set was also a great set. The real discovery for me though was the opener–Claire Small. She filled the stage with a great presence and energy and used Steve, Martin and Jim as her backup band. It reminded me alot of some of the times I saw Tift Merritt at IOTA.

We must have had the entire weekend covered as I hit the Saturday night show. They played deep into the night. Incredible.

    well heck you guys,
thank you so much for the kind words. It’s very very cool that you talk about LTh and spread the word.
I thought this weekend’s shows were about the best LTH has ever done, so I’m really glad you were there to see it! And this new CD is the one I’m proudest of, and I hope it can get into as many ears as possible… so spread the word any way you can, burn CDs (but don’t tell me about it!), send out mp3s… it’s hard out there, but folks like you make it worthwhile.. i really appreciate it…
    sincerely,
    Eric & LTH
