The Return of the Bottle Rockets

The Bottle Rockets album cover

The Bottle Rockets are back! Brian Henneman and the boys are Twangville royalty, having delivered some of alt country’s greatest hits. After a three year hiatus, the band makes a welcome return with the forthcoming Zoysia.

While Blue Skies, the band’s last album, was a dark album reflective of the personal matters confronting the band, Zoysia rocks them back into form. The guitars are front and center throughout, most notably on the infectious “Mountain to Climb” and the potent “Middle Man.”

Henneman’s lyrical wit is sharp as ever. On the lead-off track “Better Than Broken” he sings about recovering from a failed relationship, “my heart is better than broken, not as good as new.”

The album will be released on June 6th, but a full preview stream is available at the band’s web site.

And if you don’t already own their classic 1995 release From the Brooklyn Side, you’ve got plenty of catching up to do…
