The Fine Print is an unreleased (until now) collection of Drive-By Truckers tunes recorded over the last few years and mostly culled from the Dirty South era. While it is not as strong as that record, or Decoration Day, I”m guessing the die hard Trucker fan will snatch up these “b-sides” and cover tunes. For the casual listener however, there”s nothing new here and I”d stick with the above mentioned albums. Patterson Hood”s “Rebels” could have easily fit on Dirty South, as could Cooley”s “Uncle Frank” in which the closing lyrics state, “Uncle Frank couldn”t read or write/So there”s no note or letter found when he died/Just a rope around his neck/and a kitchen table turned on its side.” The cover of “Play It All Night Long” is fitting, seeing best online casino as DBT is about the closest thing to Skynard since Skynard, but Zevon”s version (and Zack Seibert”s for that matter) trumps this one. My favorite track is entitled “Little Pony and the Great Big Horse” in which Cooley acoustically sums up life as seen through the eyes of, you guessed it, horses. It’s a nice heartwarming ditty and made me want to rush to the city and buy some Elmer”s.Â
