by in Acoustic, Bluegrass, Contests, Videos

Sara Watkins“I just say that I grew up in a bluegrass band that became something else,” says Sara Watkins to describe her time spent with Nickel Creek. Watkins stretches out on her self-titled newly released solo outing. Recorded in Nashville and LA with producer John Paul Jones (he of Led Zeppelin fame), the album features tracks ranging from the country-gospel “Lord Won’t You Help Me,” to Jon Brion’s the romantic wistfulness of Jon Brion’s yearning “Same Mistakes.”

Ooh, I’m on board. I love Nickel Creek, and I’ve been anxiously waiting to see what Sara would do as a solo artist.

She has such talent. Best of luck.

I’ve definitely been looking forward to her solo work since I heard about it… and hopefully some more Nickel Creek stuff can come together in the future too. I’m very anxious to hear what she’s done with this one.

I saw Nickel Creek in Minneapolis during the final tour and hated to say goodbye. In fact, that night was responsible for my wife becoming a big fan herself. We have waited patiently ( a long wait though!) since first hearing about Sara’s solo release and I absolutely love it. The feelings she can convey with her voice are fantastic. Especially the pain and aches on “All This Time”! Great CD – My 2009 pick so far!

I liked what I heard of her live spot on WERS Boston.

I saw Nickel Creek a few years ago at a very small private show in Boston. I’ve always had a crush on Sara & the opportunity to see her perform up close & personal was & is one of the musical highlights of my life.
I’m so happy to see her out on her own with this new CD & I look forward to seeing her perform agin real soon. She’s hot!
