Monday Morning Video – The Yawpers Have “Suspicious Minds”

Monday, July 25, 2016 By Mayer Danzig

Denver-based The Yawpers made their inaugural trip to Boston (well, really Cambridge) last week. They drew a respectable crowd for a late Sunday night set and proceeded to whip the audience into a frenzy with their distinctive blend of punk, rockabilly and bad-ass rock and roll. They even seemed to take in stride (and actually seemed to enjoy) the drunken dude who kept jumping on stage to dance. All in good fun, I guess.

One of the evening’s highlights was their blistering take on the Elvis classic “Suspicious Minds.” While this version is actually a bit tame compared to the Cambridge performance, it’s well worth sharing nonetheless. “If you don’t know this song, you can leave now. This is one of the greatest songs ever written, unfortunately not by us.”
