The band was a three-headed monster — each man equally impressive at both songwriting and guitar-playing. “The Believers were like a full-on rock band kind of wanting to be the Mott the Hoople of the Southwest,” reflects Escovedo.

Escovedo chronicles the band in “Chip N’ Tony,” an ode to former bandmates Chip and Tony Kinman on his latest release Real Animal.

In the first of two exclusive Twangville podcasts, Escovedo reflects on the rise and fall of Rank & File and his subsequent return to Austin.
You could say that about our new favorite urinary tract inspired podcast hosted by THE MAN, Blake Clayton. That’s right, let it burn, burn, burn. If you haven’t heard the IBWIP podcast before, it covers the best in Punktry, Psychobilly, Underground Country… whatever you wanna call it. I call it… good. In the latest IBWIP podcast. Blake & Co. interview Wayne “The Train” Hancock. They also play music from The Wild Boars, Rachel Brooke, Jake Penrod, and Carmen Lee and the Tomorrow Two. Stick around to about the 40 minute mark and you’ll hear a hilarious ad of this here site, Twangville. The campier this podcast gets, the funnier it is. Be sure and listen in for their phony phone call. Most importantly, call this number and tell them that Twangville sent ya: (309) 761-4227.
