Win Big: Bloodshot Records Live @ 15

by in Americana, Downloads, Rock, Streams

Bloodshot at 15How was your Record Store Day? Mine was fine, thanks. Our friends at Bloodshot made it all the better with an awesome live release, recorded at their 15th Anniversary celebration in Chicago on September 12th, 2009. Beyond being a great music collection, it's a great reminder as to why Bloodshot is one of our favorite labels. Beyond the artists listed below, the label is home to Twangville faves Justin Townes Earle, the Bottle Rockets and Lydia Loveless to name just a few. Bloodshot is offering one lucky Twangville reader a copy of this limited edition 15th Anniversary release. To win, post a comment with your favorite Bloodshot release (see the complete catalog here). A winner will be selected at random when the contest ends on Friday, 6 May 2011 at midnight ET.** Of course everybody wins with this special mp3 from the release, Alejandro Escovedo's "Castanets."

Favorite Bloodshot release : Asylum Street Spankers; Spanker Madness :)

    • Stefan Nilsson

Favorite bloodshot release: JTE: Harlem River Blues

    • Kyle Klebba

For me it either is Neko Case “Furnace Room Lullaby” or The Waco Bros. “To the Last Dead Cowboy”

    • AnotherGuinnessHere

Tough to choose one, but – Kelly Hogan “Beneath The Country Underdog”

    • Mllink

Gotta say Th’ Legendary Shack*Shakers “Cock A Doodle Don’t”

    • Nattyjoe1

Gotta say that Death of a Decade by Ha Ha Tonka is my favorite at the moment…so many great ones to choose from!

    • Dmunozhtown

Because of its connection to the Japanese poet, Kobayashi Issa and his haiku…the song, Walking On Hell’s Roof Looking at Flowers by the Waco Brothers on Electric Waco Chair is one of my favorite songs on a Bloodshot release.
In case you don’t know the haiku.

Flowers on the Roof of Hell

      in this world
we walk on the roof of hell
      gazing at flowers
      —Issa (1763–1828)

    • Didire

Favorite Bloodshot release: For a Decade of Sin!

    • http://www.andymillermusic.com Andy Miller

I really like JTE “Harlem River Blues”, but I also keep returning to Scott H Biram’s “Graveyard Shift”. I think I’m going to go with Scott H Biram album.

    • SFShoim

ALEJANDRO ESCOVEDO, Street Songs of Love is my favorite recent Bloodshot release…he never ceases to amaze!!!

    • Joelisimon

The Bottle Let Me Down is one my whole family digs. Langford’s “the Fox” kills me every time, as does Freakwater’s “Little Red Riding Hood”.

    • Tom Osborne

“Harlem River Blues” is sure hard to beat. So great that Bloodshot has supported JTE all the way back to “Yuma”.

As a man I aint never been much for sunny days
I’m as calm as a fruit stand in New York and maybe as strange
But when the color goes out of my eyes its usually the change
But damn Sam I love a woman that rains
      - Ryan Adams’ Heartbreaker. Thanks, Bloodshot. Thanks, Mayer.

    • Thevandalstookmyhandle

Easily has to be Ryan Adams “Heartbreaker”……but all the records by The Waco Bros receive very honorable mention! Bloodshot is one of those labels where you know exactly what you’re getting into with each purchase! Thanks Bloodshot, for years of great records!

    • JuliaP

There’s no way I can pick just one. Neko Case, Old 97′s, Firewater…
