George… Giving It Up for Neil Young

In words far greater than anything I could come up with, my father-in-law (George) had this to say about Neil Young’s recent retrospective:

Please tell Tom that the Starbuck’s edition of Neil Young’s live retrospective in Canada is a spectacular tour de force of a writer and player who’s ear hears melody lines and chord structures from some other universe. Just listening to him re-tune to his different open tunings between each song is testament to his prowess as a guitar player and the other-worldly chromatic scales in his head. His studio work often masked his virtuosity because of his restraint in favor of a well balanced track. I’m in love again–Neil boy is King.

Let’s start the rally cry to get George writing some reviews for Twangville!

Yeah, he should definitely write some reviews! I must say that the Massey Hall disc is amazing George, if you haven’t gotten that, buy it.

  2. Dennis Nicholson Says:

Neil Young is my hero, however living in Spain means I’m never going to see him tour. His guitar playing style is un mistakable and never succesfully imitated.

George you have made a fan extremely happy
