Happy weekend. I’m certainly ready for it, some time to relax and perhaps catch a show or two. Here’s the over-stuffed (Thanksgiving pun intended) video companion to the October and November playlist.
Things kick off with a run of acoustic performances from Bow Thayer, Doc Dailey, Will Hoge, Teddy Goldstein, the Autumn Defense, Benjamin Frances Leftwich and Palmdale.
We then bring on the rock with some outstanding performances from the Mooncussers, Lydia Loveless, the Tim Lee 3, Black Dub, Bruce Springsteen, and Robert Plant with Band of Joy (with Buddy Miller on guitar) performing the Led Zeppelin classic “Rock and Roll.”
We close out the set with a quartet of cool covers: Palmdale covering the Outfield’s “Say It Isn’t So,” Anthony D’Amato playing Warren Zevon’s “Splendid Isolation,” Bow Thayer and Perfect Trainwreck performing John Lennon’s “Mind Games” with Dave Stewart (yes, from the Eurythmics), and John Boutte and Paul Sanchez’s brilliant take on Paul Simon’s “American Tune.”
