Win Big: The Old 97’s Visit The Grand Theatre

So the Old 97s are back with another alt country gem (see Kelly’s take here). To celebrate the new release, we are giving away a copy of The Grand Theatre, Volume One. Here’s how to win:

Earlier this year, the band released a 4-song ep of cover tunes called Mimeograph (see the Twangville review here). It got us thinking — what OTHER songs would we want to hear the boys cover?

To enter our give-away, post a comment with your cover song suggestion for the Old 97s. A winner will be selected at random when the contest ends on Monday, 18 October 2010 at midnight ET.**

And, of course, we’ll pass along the suggestions to the band. In the meantime, here’s one of my favorites from the latest release, plus the band’s take on the Beatles “I’ll Cry Instead.”.

**By participating in Twangville contests you agree to allow Twangville to post the winner’s name and city on our web site. We pass along the winning addresses to the artist or promotions company for fulfillment. Twangville will not use your address for any other reason. Contest open to US and Canadian residents.

Spoon did a great cover of a lesser known Paul Simon song “Peace Like A River” so Rhett and Co… about taking a stab at Paul Simons “Paranoia Blues” from his first solo record. Much fun will be had by all!

I’m guessing the Old 97’s could do a mean “End of the World as We Know It” by R.E.M. based on their cover of “Driver 8″.
