I took my mom to see James Brown in West Palm Beach, FL in what must have been 1999. During the performance he attempted to do one of his signature splits. He needed help standing up from the down position and a week or so later found himself relapsing on pain killers. Aside from all of that, I was amazed at how willing he was to please the audience. We all would have been just as happy to see the performance with no splits. He was an amazing dancer and an equally talented singer. In addition to his well known talents, James Brown should be remembed for his love of ALL people regardless of skin color or social status.
