Here’s a sampling of what I’ll be checking out this week. Its great to see Sonic Youth still at it after all this time and you just gotta love the Delta-blues from Keb Mo. Keep Donavon Frankenreiter on your radar. He’s yet another surfer-turned-musician to enter the scene bringing acoustic rhythms with a touch of 70’s soul. If you only have time to listen to one album, check out Allison Moorer’s Getting Somewhere. I know I’ve been waiting for this for some time now.

- Regina Spektor, Begin to Hope (AOL Music)
- Donavon Frakenreiter, Move by Yourself (AOL Music)

Ooh! Thanks for pointing me to the new Replacements collection
I was lucky enough to catch the Mats in Berkeley when they were touring for their phenomenal “Let it be” album.
I was about 16-years-old, and a runaway, and off the top of my head I’m thinking it was maybe 1986?
I suppose it’s kind of ironic, but IMHO no one has ever replaced the Replacements…
“You take the skyway… it don’t move at all like a subway… in my stupid hat & gloves I wait most every day…”
Westerberg was a true poet, if a drunken one – but then those may be the best kind.

Hey Cary! I wholeheartedly agree. The Replacements are irreplaceable.
