Years ago the Dead inspired me to check out alot of different roots and country-type music that I might not have heard otherwise. Any time I would hear one of their covers, I always wanted to find the original. So my favorite cover that the Dead used to do is probably the Cash classic Big River. As far as original tunes…I’ve always liked Jack Straw quite a bit…

I always loved Casey Jones. When I was a child in Minnesota Casey Jones was the childrens show host with Roundhouse Rodney. I always remember my childhood when I hear that song.
